Hi! My name is Morgan
and I live in the Southwest United States with my husband, two dogs, cat, axolotl, and turtle. All our animals are rescues, so you can be sure that this list will inevitably grow over time.
I have been writing and thinking up stories for as long as I can remember, but really put pen to paper and started writing my first novel in 2019. While I decided not to publish my novel, I worked with multiple editors to refine and polish my story and that’s when I fell in love with the editing process. More in love with editing than writing if I’m being completely honest.
Somewhere along this journey, I joined a Tik Tok community of aspiring authors and quickly started signing up for every beta reading opportunity I could find. What I found was that I was leaving an absolute smattering of feedback and praise on these manuscripts, then drafting a multi-page document with my broader feedback (this is apparently not the norm). So, you can imagine how surprised I was when I received a developmental edit on my manuscript and noticed similarities in the feedback I’d been providing informally.
But that wasn’t enough. I became a member with the Editorial Freelancer’s Association and began taking courses on how to be a developmental editor (for realsies) and started asking my community if I could edit their novels for free while I developed my skills. Now, several novels later, I am proud of the feedback that I provide and formal training I’ve received.
I’m so glad you’re here and hope we have an opportunity to work together. Poke around, and reach out using the button below. I’d love to chat!

& additional details about my process

In-line comments are provided in Microsoft Word using the Comments feature.
Manuscripts that are provided via Google Docs will be exported as a Word (.docx) file and returned as a PDF to prevent data loss or corruption
All manuscripts submitted as a Word document will be returned in a Word document
Please do not submit your manuscript as a PDF as this can make formatting challenging when converting to a Word (.docx) file type.
Story and character mapping that is purchased in the Story Mapping Package is completed through Microsoft Excel. Due to formatting limitations, story mapping must be delivered as an .xlsx file, but can be imported into Google Docs
An example of what these maps look like can be found on the Story Mapping Package page
In no way is AI used to edit your manuscript, nor will your manuscript be knowingly exposed to an AI tool. Copilot is deactivated on my computer and if I find that your manuscript was in any way exposed to AI, I will take necessary action to disable the program that exposed your manuscript and notify you promptly thereafter.

Your manuscript is uniquely yours and it is never my intent to make your manuscript sound less like you, and more like me. I also will never make actual changes to your manuscript, but rather use the Comments feature in Word to highlight areas of consideration and ask questions to promote creative brainstorming to issues identified.
In no way are you required to or expected to implement my feedback. I may even provide feedback you disagree with!
Developmental edits and the story mapping package includes an editorial letter that discuss the overall plot and story structure, character arcs, and genre and reader expectations. This letter also condenses the feedback provided in your manuscript into three priority revision areas to help you focus where your next draft can be made more effective.
My goal is always to provide actionable feedback.

Fantasy and all subgenres
I will edit both soft and hard world building and magic systems)
Contemporary
Romance of all spice levels
I will edit dark romance, but I won't be your best fit for novels containing blood play
Speculative
LGBTQ+ fiction (as long as it fits in one of the genres listed above)
I will edit some science fiction, but I'm not going to be your best fit if your sci-fi novel contains mathematic or scientific fact checking.
I only edit fiction novels for Adult, Young Adult, and New Adult genres. I tend to be the best fit for women writers and the voices, perspectives, and experiences they bring to their work. However, I welcome inquiries from male authors and am happy to discuss whether a project would be a good fit.

Sometimes you just get this itch for a particular genre, character arc, trope, etc. Here's what I'm currently dying to get my hands on:
Urban Fantasy
Epic Fantasy (standalone or potential for series, hard worldbuilding)
Mafia Romance
Reverse Harem Romance
Dystopian (fantasy or speculative)
Note: if your book doesn't appear on this list, it doesn't mean I won't pour as much love and devotion into it! Let's talk :)

First, I'd like to share that all forms of editing take a great deal of time, dedication and effort and my goal is not to race pricing "to the bottom,” nor is it my goal to get a competitive edge.
Many editors rely on their editing services as their sole income and because of the effort involved in this process, it's impossible to take on a multitude of clients that would support a lavish lifestyle, even using the EFA’s median pricing. If you’re able, please support these editors over me.
I get that’s a bit of a crazy statement to make. So why do I offer my services at such a discounted rate? Well, for a couple reasons.
I’m surrounded by a community of incredibly passionate writers who may not have the means of paying for editorial services of any kind. Is publishing or querying without an editor possible? Absolutely, and it happens every single day. There are also writing groups that are great for giving and getting feedback. But if I’m able to offer a service to someone at a price they can afford, why not give that writer another option to choose from?
I’m not an editor full time, and I don’t rely on editing as my main source of income. I’m incredibly grateful to have the option to offer discounted pricing because my circumstances allow it.
Why not offer this for free then? I would love to. Except my ongoing education to become a more skilled editor, website costs, and subscriptions that I use for editing add up pretty quickly. Editing also takes a great deal of time away from my family, and this is a small way I can contribute to more time with them on my “off days.”
